Braided-Crochet Scarf

Here is my latest (and finally!) completed crochet project!

I had seen a few similar scarves floating around on Pinterest (of course!) and decided to make myself one. None of them had any tutorials or instructions so I just made it up myself and it turned out pretty cute and similar to the ones I had looked at. The other ones were only one loop but I love being able to double it up so I made mine quite a bit longer. It was pretty time consuming since it is made entirely of double crochet stitches but here is how I made it:

You will need:
2 skeins of light weight yarn
G hook

How to make the scarf:
1. chain 220 (or however many to make it the desired length you prefer!)
2. double crochet stitch into each chain (that's why it took so long but has such a nice solid form to it and isn't "holey")
3. do four rows or until each strand is to your desired width
4. repeat three times to make three separate strands
5. once you are done with the three strands, loosely braid them and then whipstitch the ends together. and done!

I'm dreaming of Spring Break....

One short week from today and I will be leaving for Florida for my Spring Break trip to Kissimmee to spend the week volunteering at Give Kids The World Village!! Ahhh I am so sooo excited! I can't wait to enjoy a week in the sun and beautiful weather in Florida while spending time volunteering and getting to know some amazing kids and their families. And I'm lucky that I get to spend it with such an awesome group of girls while I'm there. The drive there (and back!) might be a long one but I know it will be so worth it! I can't wait!

Friday Funnies - 3.8.13

Another week down and another weekend coming up...so thankful it is Friday! And the weather forecast doesn't have any snow for the next few days except maybe some late Sunday/early Monday so hopefully that doesn't actually happen. It's supposed to be mid-40s so I'm not even sure how snow would happen and I'm hoping it doesn't at all! I am just sooo ready for spring! I want to be wearing some ballet flats and my Sperry's, not my big Uggs and boots and knee length down-feather coat anymore! Tonight Jordan is going to Poker Night with the guys and I have a crochet project that I want to finish and also a paper I need to finish and submit for class! Friday night or not, I am just glad it is the weekend even if I do work on some school stuff! And daylight savings in this weekend, yes! I don't care about losing an hour of sleep considering I've been sleeping 10-13 hours A DAY the past three weeks anyway! I am more excited for there to be sunlight in the mornings when I wake up AND still sunlight when I come home from work/class late in the afternoon by 5pm! And who doesn't enjoy some sunlight?! It just makes everything better! I'll take some sunlight along with some funny and sneaky kids and that makes for a great day! Happy Friday everyone! Enjoy your weekend!

Well I'm sorry fridge magnets but it's a little hard to when I know there's Snickers Ice Cream bars in there!!
for those who are born to create drama...I don't know what's funnier between the girls comment or the cop's reaction! I need to make sure that our kids never see this video in the future...

today is a good day.

It's Wednesday which means that I have the whole day free until my night class at 5:45 and since Jordan doesn't start his full-time teaching job until Monday, that means we get to spend the day at home together! And I just have to say that today has been a good day. Noo, actually, that doesn't do it justice. Today has been a great day and one that has been very exciting to say the least! I just love days like today! Now it's time to get some snuggles with Paisley before I have to get ready to leave for class! :)

married with taxes

Last night Jordan and I did our first real big grown-up married couple thing and we filed our taxes together! It was quite the process because we had to wait almost 3 hours but in the end, it was totally worth it because we got the taxes filed and the lady who helped us was awesome! She made sure we received every credit, for being students and in education, along with any deductions that we were supposed to receive so she got us back our maximum refund. The only thing that sucked about the whole process was we didn't eat dinner before we left so when I thought we weren't going to get our taxes filed, I started to get realllllllllly hangry. Which is a terrible combination of being hungry and angry. Not good! Oh well, we got them filled and came home to devour an entire pizza in twenty minutes then catch up on some shows before calling it a night! That's what I like to call a successful Monday and great start to the week!

7 Months and still loving...

I'll Cover You
By: RENT

Live in my house
I'll be your shelter
Just pay me back
With one thousand kisses
Be my lover - I'll cover you

Open your door
I'll be your tenant
Don't got much baggage
To lay at your feet
But sweet kisses I've got to spare
I'll be there - I'll cover you

I think they meant it
When they said you can't buy love
Now I know you can rent it
A new lease you are, my love,
On life - be my life

Just slip me on
I'll be your tenant
Wherever - whatever - I'll be your coat

You'll be my king
And I'll be your castle

No you'll be my queen
And I'll be your moat

I think they meant it
When they said you can't buy love
Now I know you can rent it
A new lease you are, my love,
On life - all my life

I've longed to discover
Something as true as this is

So with a thousand sweet kisses,I'll cover you
With a thousand sweet kisses,I'll cover you,
When you're worn out and tired

When your heart has expired
If you're cold and you're lonely
You've got one nickel only
With a thousand sweet kisses, I'll cover you,
With a thousand sweet kisses, I'll cover you

Oh lover I'll cover you
Oh lover I'll cover you

Happy 7 month wedding anniversary, Mr. E!
We are on the downhill slide to nearing a full year already!
I'd be lost without you and all that you do for me!
Thanks for always being the best everyday :)
All my love, KE

Friday Funnies - 3.1.13

It's March! It's National Craft Month! And daylight savings is coming back soon! So that means Spring is in the air and that makes me so, sooo happy! Eeeek! And it's Friday so that makes today just that much better all around! Not much on the schedule for this weekend besides a fun gathering planned with some friends tomorrow night! Should be another fun and relaxing weekend before the snow comes back in full force on Monday and Tuesday. Like I said before, is it Spring yet?! Come on groundhog, you didn't see your shadow so bring on the sunny Spring days! Let's get laughing and have a wonderful weekend!

Hahahaha!! yes I would be!

My snacking habit while crocheting doesn't help...
but I like to think all of that hooking burns a few calories!
And turns out I'm guilty of saying all of these....all the time.
