SNOW DAY!

It is snowing, blowing and pretty nasty outside today and that means one thing....SNOW DAY!!! I despise of snow and really don't enjoy it one bit, but if it means that I get to spend the day at home relaxing and doing nothing with Jordan, then I will gladly take a snow day! Well, I already had the day off anyway BUT I just got an email from my professor that my night class is cancelled for tonight due to the terrible weather and driving conditions! And Jordan got the day off too...yipee! So that means we spent the day in our pj's all snuggled up with a movie marathon on and napping throughout the day and I crocheted some boot cuffs! I love me a lazy day with the hubs and pup on the couch! Today has been such a great and exciting day around the Easton home!

Friday Funnies - 12.7

Christmas is two and a half weeks away from today! So that means it is time to start pulling out the ugly sweaters, singing some Christmas carols and indulging in plenty of the best Christmas movies around! Jordan is always down for a good chick flick and it turns out, many of the Christmas movies end up being the typical romantic-comedy type but then there are those that are just down right hysterical. Like Christmas Vacation for example. It never gets old. And it is one of Jordan's all-time favorite Christmas movies so we will be watching it this weekend! I think it gets funnier each time I watch it and I always seem to notice something new! So this Friday Funny is going to be dedicated entirely to Christmas Vacation to help spread some holiday cheer and really get everyone in the holiday spirit! Enjoy the weekend!

and here's hoping that this will be the hap hap happiest Christmas for everyone!

Passport Problems

Today I'm thankful (actually beyond thankful AND relieved!) that Jordan and I have finally applied for our passports!!!! We officially leave for our honeymoon in 40 days from now which means that it is less than 6 weeks away, yipee!!!! ....which means that I will be a paranoid-nervous-hot mess of a wreck until the day our passports arrive in the mail! I say this because everything on-line says that the processing time for passports is 4-6 weeks. Yep, 4-6 weeks. And in case you missed it, we will be leaving in LESS THAN 6 WEEKS! The lady at the post office today swore to us that we won't have a problem receiving it by the time we leave and she was like, "actually, most people have been getting them in 2-3 weeks so I'm sure you'll have no problem!" Alright lady, don't you know I'm like Winnie The Pooh and constantly have a black rain cloud hovering above me?! I'm the epitome of Murphy's Law, so anything that can go wrong, it will! Which leads me to my next thing I'm thankful for today.... I'm thankful that my husband wants to go out to the movies this weekend on a date BUT not if it means we're going to see the new Denzel Washington movie Flight. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Denzel because really, who doesn't?! But I'm good not seeing that and adding to my huge inner-fear of flying and constant internal anxiety I have while flying. I'm all for a movie date but there's just some movies I can't do. Ones about planes crashing for example, are some movies I can't do and refuse to watch. It's looking like it might be a redbox movie date night and a little phase 10 competition afterall and for that, I am just as thankful for!

The Vow

The Vow
Jordan and I watched The Vow recently as part of a typical redbox movie date night. And well, I'm really glad that we didn't waste the money to go see it in theaters when it came out on Valentine's Day. It had its cute moments and parts, but that's about it. It was one of those classic movies where they showed all the good parts in the previews and then the movie itself just drug on and on and on.....and on. Basically, the story line is Channing Tatum (Leo) and Rachel McAdams (Paige) characters get married and they get in a car accident which leaves Paige with a traumatic brain injury and memory loss. Of course, upon waking from her coma, she doesn't remember who Leo is or that she's married to him. She only remembers her life up through high school. So the movie had plenty of heartache and tough times between the two of them with Leo fighting to get Paige to fall back in love with him. Which I can't even imagine having to do that....that would suck and be unbearable.

Anyway, what really pissed me off about the movie was Pagie's family. I won't give away what happens, but basically Paige cut herself off from her family for some reason that we figured out later in the movie. And with this brain injury and memory loss, of course she doesn't remember why, so her parents take advantage of it and try to rewrite her life!!! Ummm, whaaaat?!! Since they didn't approve of the new life she had made for herself and since she couldn't remember her life, they thought they could just start over and make things better. And basically, tried to force Leo to divorce her and drive him away! When the movie was over, I turned to Jordan and said, "I hope to God nothing like that were to ever happen to us. And if it did, that you and my family would do all you could to get me to remember and fall back in love with you." Which of course, he said he would obviously. Then I followed it up with, "but if it were the other way around, I feel like your family would act like Paige's. Take advantage and try to write me out of your life!!!" We both laughed that one off because of course I was half-joking but still...makes me wonder what would happen?? All in all, the movie was a let down. It then just quickly ended with no satisfaction at the end and with me still pissed off at Paige's family. Ughh I hate feeling like that at the end of a movie. And I hate controlling parents and families like that...I'm so thankful my parents cut the cord and let us all live our lives!

May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor

It has been less than 12 hours since we've seen the midnight premiere of The Hunger Games and I already want to see it again in theaters. No joke, it was that good. I read all three of the books and while watching the movie, I was still cringing and fidgeting around because I was so nervous about what was going to happen. Even Jordan kept looking at me and at one point told me to "stop cracking." Apparently, I was cracking every knuckle and joint repeatedly without even realizing it. Like I said, the movie was just that good and so true to the book! I was pretty hesitant to see the movie at first, I'm not going to lie. I loved the books and was a freak about them. I even had nightmares sometimes that I was actually IN the hunger games and was fighting to stay alive. I did NOT want this movie to be a disappointment and to ruin the books. I've seen so many book to movie adaptations which have cut out so much of the plot or characters that it just isn't even the same story anymore or as enjoyable.

This movie however, they did everything right. The cast was so perfect and each person fit the role and character from the book that I had visioned in my head. The directors made the Districts look even more run down and depressing and the Capitol all the more lavish and colorful than I had pictured. Which was a great surprise, it really added to the books I thought and gave life to the words. Obviously, the main plot of it is the actual part of being in the arena where Katniss has to fight for her life. This is a battle to the death between 24 tributes from each district aged 12-18 years old. Scary shit, right? Yeah, hence why I was having nightmares! Anyway, with such a young crowd and following, the rating could only be PG-13 so they didn't lose a big chuck of movie ticket sales. Which at first, I thought, "how are they ever going to show kids killing kids and battling like this and do the book justice with it being rated PG-13?!!" And much to my surprise, they did. Every bit of it I think they did justice and Jordan wholeheartedly agrees with that. He even said, "I think that was one of the THE BEST book to movie adaptations I've ever seen. Including  all of the Harry Potter movies." Whoaaaa big words coming from Jordan, who has read all of the Harry Potter books twice and owns all 7 movies in a boxed set.

So whether you've already read all three of the books, have only read the first one, or want to see the movie then maybe read the books, I would suggest to go see this movie. It has a kick-ass strong female role and heroine for once alongside two smoking hot dudes. Really, it's an eye pleaser for everyone. If there's one thing you do this weekend, go see The Hunger Games and may the odds ever be in your favor!
