I've got spirit...And a post wedding chop!

SURPRISE! My post wedding chop has officially happened!!! And I love it! It feels 100 times better, lighter and healthier. And now that I cut off all the length, it made it look even more blonde which means I can put off highlights for a little while longer...I definitely like the length/cut on me the best because I think it suits my face well and makes me look more my age or least "older" without aging me toooo much! haha if that even makes sense?!

AND it looks like the crafting bug is here to stay! And with football season around the corner, I sewed myself a new Hawkeye dress just in time for tailgating season...who says football and cute dresses can't be paired together?! I got the inspiration from some pins on Pinterest of course and decided I needed to make myself one! Why spend $50-60 on one from Scheels or on-line when I can craft one myself exactly how I want it?! Yay for having the crafty gene, thanks Mom! To make it, I used a shirt of Jordan's that he never wears anymore then bought the black and white polka dot fabric for $4.00....I already had the elastic and black thread so the total project cost was $4.00, whoop whoop! Another successful DIY sewing project in the books!

Back In Black

Less than a week until Iowa Football is officially kicked off for the season! And we're doing it up big in Chicago at Soldier Field none the less! I don't know exactly when I started getting so into football but I can't say it's a bad thing. Maybe it was when I first started at Iowa that I realized I needed to step it up in the "football knowledge and watching department". Maybe it was when I realized, "hey I need one more thing to make my blood boil and since Iowa football does that to my Dad sometimes, I'm going to get into it too." Or maybe it was when I realized it's true, that guys dig chicks into sports especially when the chick is okay with lounging around all day in sweats with football on. Whatever it is, I'm glad I finally woke up and accepted it. I love me some college football....okay and the Vikings thanks to Jordan. Can't wait to kick off the football season this weekend in Chicago with both of our families and all of our friends! Back In Black will officially be on repeat the rest of the week...Let's Go Iowa!!!!!!

Updated TOMS

I love my TOMS and everything they stand for. It's an amazing company and the guy who created it well, job well done sir. The shoes are super comfy, fashionable and affordable. AND every time you buy a pair, a pair is donated to kids who don't have shoes. Awesome. I'm all for it. However, because I am so obsessed with them, I wear them very frequently....maybe a little too frequently. So much so that I wore a hole right through them on each shoe where my big toe hits! I didn't want to part with them and since I had some extra fabric left over from another dress project, I made two patches that fit the front portion of the shoe! I used some fabric glue to attach it then pressed in along the seams and put a few stitches around the corners to secure it. Now I have my own personalized, refashioned and still comfy TOMS! I love easy DIY projects!

One week down...not too many to go!

Well,  one week down of the fall semester and so I guess that means only 15 more to go! And then another 16 for spring semester, holy smokes! Whoop whoop! I think this semester will be pretty easy but really interesting with the classes I'm taking. The names of them are "Death and Dying" and "Parent-Child Relationships"....hmm I'm really actually looking forward to all that I will learn in class this semester from both classes because for once I know it is all real life stuff that I can use and take with me after class is over. Bonus! That makes school so much better! Jordan has been student teaching now already for two weeks as well....so crazy he's now Mr. Easton! He's going to make such a great teacher because he's so patient, understanding, good with kids and loves to teach. Which sounds silly, but he does. I swear he's always trying to teach me something even if it is only about sports or something science related that I don't understand. I'm so proud of him for going for his dream and now getting so close to finishing his goal of receiving his teaching certificate. It's so weird to think that two years ago when we both graduated, we had nooo idea what we wanted to do with our lives and our degrees for that matter. We both leaned on each other to find the strength and courage to be brave enough to really go after what we wanted, even if that meant more time and money spent on school. I couldn't be happier that we got each other through it all and to where we are today. We're just a hop, skip and jump away from the finish line...and to that, we're celebrating with some drinks tonight!

He was there from 8am until at least 9 or 10pm at the reception! He got so many unique shots of details throughout the day, candid shots, fun poses and was super helpful to have around too! I have no idea how we'll narrow it down to start getting them printed and framed and scrapbooked! They're all amazing! So without further adieu, I give you a small snipit of some of our favorite shots from our wedding day!

Welcome to 25

Whoever said turning 25 is a bad thing? And why do people always say, "wow now you're closer to 30 than 20!" like it's such a bad thing! I am gladly welcoming turning 25 with open arms and if this past weekend was any indicator as to how the rest of the year is going to go, then I know it will be a good one! Janelle got to town late Friday night and right from her bus, we went downtown for some early birthday celebrating. What started out as "just a few drinks," turned into staying out until bar close, going to aftie's with some friends, a trip to Wal-Mart at 4am for wings and fries...and of course, The Hunger Games on blu-ray!!!! Needless to say, it was a fantastic start to the weekend! Saturday we got to Des Moines and hit up the State Fair for some drinks, people watching and fried food before the concert. Fried pickles and beer were a huge hit. So soooo good!!! Then we headed into the concert... It. Was. Awesome. Loverboy went on first then Pat Benatar came on stage and totally rocked it. Jordan and Scott got a kick out of how many of her songs that Janelle and I knew! I mean, who doesn't know "Heartbreaker" and "Hit Me With Your Best Shot!" Throw back 80s jams are the best! And then the real entertainment of the night hit the stage....JOURNEY!!! They were amazing! I am not sure if any of us stopped singing and dancing and rocking out right with them and everyone else there! The best songs were definitely "Faithfully" and of course, "Don't Stop Believing"....they ended the song with confetti and streamers blasting everywhere! Epic concert and we all loved every minute of it. Big shoutout to my parents for the tickets for all of us! It was a blast for the 5 pack to be together so thank you for the fun outing!!!!
