nightmare city

I don't know what is going on with me, but lately, I have been having some super crazy dreams. Like, crazy weird and crazy creepy. Things that won't leave my mind all day and that scare me to go back to sleep at night because I don't want to fall back into the dreams! I am pretty sure that is rare but it seems to always happen to me and it is really freaking me out! Whenever I tell Jordan about these dreams, he just laughs and says I need to start watching some different movies or read a nice happy book before drifting off to sleep. Usually it's a Disney movie of some sort or chick flick I watch before bed so I don't think that's the issue! When people ask you, "what are you most afraid of?" and you don't know how to respond, it's usually because it is such a deep down fear that you probably aren't even aware of it. However, I could easily answer that question because I dream it every night. Several times a night. Turns out my deepest fears consist of Jordan dying along with anyone in my family, Paisley dying and especially getting ran over by a car and myself dying. Typical fears but then these "dreams" aka nightmares also turn everything into some ridiculous and totally unrealistic scene that is brutal and I witness it all happening every time! Talk about night sweats and paranoia! I've heard crazy dreams like this are a sign of pregnancy.....who knows!

And the Oscar goes to....

So who watched the Oscars last night?!! Jordan and I did and we were thoroughly entertained the whole time while watching the show! We hadn't seen every movie that was up for Best Picture but that's ok. Out of the movies that were up for different nominations, we have seen Lincoln, Argo, Flight, Skyfall, Brave and....I think that's it? Or at least all that I can remember! We really wanted to see Les Mis before the Oscars but are still planning on seeing it as soon as it is available on DVD along with Zero Dark Thirty and The Life of Pi. We love a nice and lazy movie night with a bowl full of popcorn and some snuggling on the couch! We actually had a pretty relaxing and lazy weekend which was nice...just did some laundry and an assignment for class then caught up on some TV shows, napped and watched more movies! Now it's back to the grind for the week of school and work! Hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing and laid back weekend!

Friday Funnies - 2.22.13

It's Friday and I am finally feeling like a normal person again! No more fevers and no more flu symptoms, whoo hoo! That was the worst I have ever felt in a looong time and definitely the longest I have felt that crappy too. Double woof! Anyway, it is done with and thankfully it is Friday so I survived the illness and even better that Jordan didn't get it either. Man, he is just so great though. He made countless late night store runs to get me some Sprite, gatorade, soup, saltines, bananas and anything else to help cure me. He took over full duties with Paisley and was constantly checking in on me when he was gone at work and I was at home to fend for myself. I wouldn't have survived without him I am sure so I'm thankful to have such a loving and supportive husband by my side, especially during my sickness! We have a very low key weekend planned with nothing on the calendar which is just what we need after this week...time to rest, recover and get caught up on school stuff that I've been putting off for a few weeks! We are looking forward to watching The Oscars on Sunday night though and besides that, who knows where the weekend might take us! Probably only from the bed to the couch...and back. Gotta love a lazy weekend but we will make sure it is full of laughter as always. Hope you have an enjoyable weekend and safe travels if you have to drive anywhere in the new 5 inches of snow we got today!

wait...what month is it??

I just realized today that it will already be March next week. MARCH!!! Wow, what happened to February and how did it fly by this fast already?!! March is going to be a great month though...I just know it! With March comes the return of daylight savings time (yessss, sunlight!!!), Spring Break and a trip to Florida, March Madness, Easter and Spring weather! Yes! I am so ready for pastels and rocking Spring colors along with all of the sights and smells that comes with this season. It all just makes me so happy!

Boyce Avenue and blogging....

I have spent the past few days since my last post on the couch, in bed and in the bathroom. That's it. I have had a wicked fever that keeps bouncing between 99.5 and 103.0 along with several other flu symptoms that I will spare you the details of. I've watched Pitch Perfect (twice!) along with every Disney movie I own.... I haven't done a lick of homework, reading or studying because it wears me out just trying to eat and get dressed. This flu bug is the worst. I have also spent many hours blog-hopping while jamming out to Boyce Avenue. That. Is. The. Life. I loooove me some Boyce Avenue and if you don't know who he is or any of his music, you are most definitely missing out! Here, take a listen:

Oh. My. God. Old school N*Sync has met their match!!!!

Ah he is sooo good. And so dreamy. And this is why I could listen to his voice and singing all day long....it just sucks you in. Take a listen and youtube him for many other awesome songs as well! These are my favorite kind of days: blogging and Boyce. Not to mention, lounging in bed and cuddling with Paisley while Jordan takes care of me is a good deal too but I would very much like to stop feeling like this. Four days is enough! Let's go hot water with lemon and honey, start working your magic on my stomach and insides! In the meantime, enjoy the new jams and I hope you all stay healthy!

Friday Funnies - 2.15.13

It's Friday. And I am super sick. So I am going to keep this one short and sweet this week.... all I have to say is I am thankful it is the weekend and that I have such an awesome and loving husband. I woke up at 4:15am puking and suffering from every flu symptom possible so he made a store run to stock up on Sprite, saltines, soup, gatorade and bananas for me so I could spend the day recovering and resting. What a guy! This weekend looks like it might be a lazy one spent on the couch and in bed sick so hopefully this passes quickly so I don't spend the whole weekend down for the count! And hey, February is half over today so that means March is almost here and Spring is just around the corner! Now that is something worth celebrating this weekend!

now that's just not right....
and I want to be in on their plan!

time for plan B

Looks like it is time for me to figure out plan B for this summer and my career path....I guess an internship just wasn't in the plan for me at this time so now I need to regroup and figure out where to go from here. Disappointed? Yes. Life ruiner? No, not by any means. But to say last night was a pretty emotional and somber night around here would be quite the under statement... I actually spent 45 minutes curled up in bed in the fetal position with Paisley by my side as I cried myself into a long nap. But, the sun always rises and where there's a will there's a way so now I am going to cut myself some slack, rethink some things and start attacking plan B.... thank goodness this week is half over!

Friday Funnies - 2.8.13

By golly, we made it. I only worked a half day today but it seemed like a full work day and then some once I got home. I think it's the stress and paranoia of this whole internship thing that has really been getting me down all week (okay so the past month) and in a serious funk. I need to snap out of it already and stop letting it consume my every thought! In good news, it is Friday and the weekend is here at least! I have a new skein of yarn and a project in mind as well...you guessed it, another scarf. I am just a tad obsessed with scarves I would say. Sorry I'm not sorry about it! We also have no weekends plans, yipeeee! I love to see our families and friends but I love a good ol' fashioned weekend long loungefest and lounge we will!

Anyway, my Friday Funnies this week is dedicated to some crazy cats and here's some back story: All week I have been having some seriously crazy dreams and all of them are about KITTENS and CATS!!! I think that is my mind's way of telling me we need a kitty.... Quick story: I am a huge animal lover. And especially love kitties (and Paisley, of course.) And Jordan knows this because I always talk about a cat I used to have named Puddles who I rescued when he was 3 days old and I bottle fed him every 3-4 hours. He was seriously my baby! Anyway, a few weeks ago, we saw a cat across the street from where we live and as we were pulling into the driveway, I pointed it out and said, "I'm gonna catch that kitty!" To which Jordan replied with, "Okay good luck...hey, if you catch it, you can keep it!" And that was a challenge that I gladly accepted. And two minutes later, WON! I proudly walked around the corner and caught the kitty...actually, it more or less let me walk up to it, pet it and then pick it right up. Jordan just laughed and shook his head because he of course didn't think I stood a chance to catch it. Ha, I love proving him wrong! So we brought in the cat and then Paisley flipped out! I'm talking sniffing the cat like crazy and was super curious....until the cat took one swat at Paisley and scratched her right across the nose. And that was the end of our time with Kitty. Jordan said I had to take it back outside because it clearly was a house cat and had just gotten out. Like I said, the cat let me walk right up to it and pick it up plus it had super soft fluffy fur and was well fed....not a stray by any means but it was fun while it lasted. And so continues, my quest to get a kitty and now that's why I believe I am dreaming about them!
give me this shirt. right meow.

patience is a....

PAIN! Not a virtue. It's a pain. Today I had my last and final interview for the internships and now it is less than a week until the official offer day. And cue every anxious and paranoid nerve in my body to be going off from now until then....and well, I am an even bigger hot emotional mess than usual! There is nothing that stresses me out more than situations that are out of my control. And waiting. Waiting and not knowing....such a terrible combo! I just have to trust it all to faith and know that things will work out. They always do. Somehow and someway.....just hoping to get a call on the 12th! Fingers crossed for good news!

Dance Marathon 19: Another Year, Another Miracle.

$1,529,650.19!!!!
FOR THE KIDS!!!!

Dance Marathon is a truly inspiring, amazing, incredible and simply remarkable organization. Each year it grows bigger and gets better. This past year I have had the wonderful privilege of working at the U of I Children's Hospital as a Child Life Assistant so I have gotten to meet several of the newly diagnosed patients and families as they start their journey to battle childhood cancer and join the Dance Marathon family. It is not a journey any family and child should ever have to join but I am grateful they have DM and that I am able to be there to help support all of them and form relationships with them and be there through it all. Being reunited with my closest friends that I have met over the past six years through DM and seeing some of the bravest, strongest and most inspiring kids (and their families!) made my heart so, so happy. The atmosphere of DM gave me chills and a smile I couldn't wipe off my face. Hearing the list of names of those children who have earned their angel wings brought tears to my eyes and a sadness in my heart that I can't explain. And it made me remember why we were there and do what we do and why each year this beautiful organization gets bigger and bigger. We have to keep fighting the good fight. Day in and day out. For those kids who are still fighting. For those kids who will have to start fighting tomorrow. And for those kids who won their fight and are dancing for life in our hearts.
Make a difference and make a miracle.
Remember, it is all FOR THE KIDS.

Friday Funnies - 2.1.13

It's Friday, what what?!! And it is DM Friday at that! And a Cross Family reunion, whoop whoop! I have an internship on Monday morning at Comer Children's Hospital so we are making a big round trip home from Madison with a pit stop in Chicago and then next Wednesday, I have a phone interview with a hospital in Texas! Less than two weeks until the official offer day so I need some good laughs and family/friend time to relieve some stress and anxiety about all of that! So let's get laughing! Dance Marathon is all For The Kids so this week's Friday Funnies is dedicated to some silly (and inspiring!) kids. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend and one that is full of love and laughter!
